art critics Vladimir Surovtsev ranks among the 50 most well known artists
The exhibitions of the his works were inaugurated in presence of Prime Ministers of several countries, Russian government, Moscow government, high ranking authorities of the ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and other countries, the Patriarch of the Russian Church Aleksij II and representatives of the art organizations, foreign diplomats, and military commanders. These exhibitions are always a great event in cultural and political life of Russia and other countries.
V. Surovtsev was not only the author of the bas-relief entitled "Valkyries", but a coordinator of Russian, American and German representatives for the whole project.
Two sculptures in bronze “Elbe spirit” were presented at the request of Russian and American war veterans to the Presidents of both countries President Yeltsin and President George Bush Sr.. View correspondence from President Bush to V. Surovtsev.
The sculptures were
The monumental bust of the Peter the Great (1.2 m high) was installed in the Royal Military History Museum (Brussels) as a present from the Russian Government on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Peter the Great visit to Europe.
The smaller (60cm high) bust of the Peter the Great is installed in a the headquarters of the German ship-builders in Hamburg as a present from the Russian ship-building companies during the tradefair “Ship-Building 2000”.
Monumental composition “Watering” (3 m high) was presented on behalf of the Russian Government and installed in the city of Lelistad (Netherlands). A small copy of the sculpture was presented by Russian President Putin to the Queen of the Netherlands.

The President of
Russia, Mr. Putin has personally thanked the sculptor during the dinner
given in honor of Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands – Beatrix,
on June 6th, 2001 in the Great Kremlin Palace, and wished to the sculptor
further successes in favor of Russia.
